1. Check that you may save the post
Open the public video you want to download. You should own the video, have permission from the rights holder or rely on another valid legal basis. A publicly visible post is not automatically licensed for republication.
2. Copy its share link
Use Share and then Copy link. The URL usually comes from www.tiktok.com or the platform’s official short-link domains. TapTik processes one post at a time, not entire profiles.
3. Paste the URL into the tool
Return to the download tool, paste the URL, confirm your permission and select the option to analyze it. If the public post is accessible, the currently enabled formats, such as a smaller video and MP3, will appear. The best-quality option may be disabled.
4. Select quality or a smaller file
The light version is limited to up to 480p and can save storage space and mobile data. The best-quality option uses the highest source available; that is not a promise of Full HD or 4K.
5. Store your file safely
Keep authorship and licensing information with the file, especially for commercial projects. Downloaded temporary files expire and must not be used as a permanent backup.
Example: save a video you created
Imagine you posted a short tutorial from your own account and want a local backup for editing. Open that public post, choose Share and copy the post URL. The full address usually includes the account name and a video identifier. Paste one link into TapTik, confirm your rights, then wait for the available formats to appear. Choose the option that matches what you need: the best source version, if available, or a smaller file that is easier to transfer.
Desktop and mobile tips
On a phone, use the Share menu in the original app and select Copy link, then return to your browser. On a computer, copy the URL from the address bar of the individual post instead of copying the creator's profile URL. Keep your browser tab open while the file is prepared. Check your Downloads folder if the save prompt disappears.
Why might a link fail?
A private, deleted or restricted post may be inaccessible. Some short links redirect, and platform changes can temporarily affect extraction. Confirm that your copied link points to a single public post, not a playlist or account page. If the service is temporarily busy, try again later rather than submitting the same link many times. A message about conversion may indicate that the processing server lacks a media component.
Which file should you choose?
Keep the source-quality file for your own archival or editing workflow when offered. A smaller video is useful for quick sharing but sacrifices some detail. No download service can invent pixels or guarantee a watermark-free file if the available original already contains one. For photo posts, see the photo download guide; for sound only, see MP3 extraction.
